Squid

When I first moved to Hawaii - I was very sad as I had left my beautiful cat Honey behind in Sydney. So as soon as I got to Hawaii I was determined to fill the void with a new kitty love. First stop: Hawaii Humane Society. The first time I went there I was horrified - there were no pedigree cats in sight. However, my husband spotted a strange but cute cat just waiting to be brought home - and 2 years later - she is still number one in our house!

We love you squid - cutest cat ever - with 4 different colored feet!

My First Night at Duke's Waikiki

The first time I went to Dukes Canoe Club in Waikiki was in March 2005. For those who haven't been to Waikiki, its one of those places that you just can't miss - right in the center of Waikiki, with a beautiful view of the beach and Diamond Head. Not to mention the good food and GREAT cocktails!

I was with a friend having a few drinks and to my surprise - a gorgeous American man starting chatting us up and teasing us about our accents. Many vacations and over 3 years later, this man is now my husband! Ahhh..... memories!

So for those who haven't been, or for those who call Dukes their home, please have a drink there for us. You can find more info on their website: www.dukeswaikiki.com .

Finally - The First Post on Natalani!

This blog has been in the making for some time now. But finally I am ready to publish. This blog will be about Hawaii and everything that makes it special and unique. I was lucky enough to live in Hawaii (not to mention a number of vacations) and also met my husband there. So for me, Hawaii has a special place in my heart, and although I am not living there right now - I plan to get back there. Not sure quite how yet, but I have made a promise to myself that I will do what I have to so I get back to the land I love. I can't quite describe the way Hawaii makes me feel - but I have never felt so at peace with myself and my life as when I lived there. I hope by writing regularly about the things that I love about Hawaii, it will help me to explain why it is my home and my readers will understand why I need to go back!

I hope to look back on this first post one day and see that I have accomplished what I set out to do - and that is to share with people the best things about Hawaii, and to finally be writing this blog from my own beach house on Oahu!

I want to thank my friend and colleague - Jordana Bruner - who helped me get this set up. She has an awesome blog - http://www.clutch22.com/ so be sure to check it out! Thanks Jordie you rock!
